More restrictions for Selangor residents during MCO period

KUALA LUMPUR: Additional restrictions have been imposed in Selangor to restrict the movement of residents during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government came out with more prohibitions to curb those flouting the federal gazette.

Referring to those who failed to abide by the order and stay at home, he said: "We view it as being extremely serious. Their negligence may worsen the impact of Covid-19 and cause the outbreak to be further prolonged.

“As such the state through the local councils will be enforcing these new directives immediately,” he said in a statement here today.

The directives had been drafted in a coordination meeting with local and district councils chaired by Amirudin on Friday. They come into effect immediately until the MCO is lifted on March 31.

The additional restriction sees petrol stations being allowed to operate while their attached convenient stores will have to cease operations by midnight.

Stocking, reloading, distribution and filtration at petrol stations are allowed to continue without any disruption.

“While general administration work at such petrol stations are to be done minimally on site, such workers are to continue their duties from home,” said an attachment to the Mentri Besar’s statement.

Convenient stores and sundry stores are also only allowed to operate until midnight, while both public and wholesale markets can only operate from 5am to 4pm.

For supermarkets, markets and convenient stores deliveries are allowed to continue without any disruption during the MCO period.

However, there is a restriction on the number of consumers from each household, the statement said.

Pasar malam and pasar tani operations are also banned from operating during the MCO period.

Launderettes, shops offering laundry services and car wash operators are also to cease their operations.

Workshops and shops selling spare parts are allowed to operate from 9am to 4pm only. Towing operations are allowed.
